To provide a sewage treatment apparatus more efficiently performing biological denitrification of sewage in a ditch tank.
Oxygen is supplied into an aeration device 5 to sewage in the endless water passage 4 of a ditch tank 2 using an oxidation ditch method. An aerobic region A and an anaerobic region B with different dissolved oxygen concentrations are alternately formed in the sewage in the endless passage 4 of the ditch tank 2. The sewage anaerobically treated in an anaerobic tank 11 is supplied to the most upstream side of the anaerobic region B in the endless passage 4 of the ditch tank 2. Thus the anaerobic treatment efficiency of the sewage in the endless passage 4 in the anaerobic region B is improved, and the biological denitrification efficiency of the sewage in the passage 4 in the tank 2 is also improved.
