Abstract:

To provide a catalyst for treatment of exhaust gas, which consists of a catalytic component-deposited metal oxide and keeps high treatment efficiency stably over a long period of time without increasing the amount of a catalytic component to be deposited specially even when the exhaust gas contains low-concentration CO and the catalytic material cost of which is kept low and to provide a method for treatment of the exhaust gas by using this catalyst.

This catalyst for treatment of an exhaust gas containing low-concentration CO is obtained by using titanium oxide as a carrier and depositing the catalytic component A consisting of at least one noble metal element on the titanium oxide and satisfies at least one of the following conditions (1)-(3); the condition (1): this catalyst has 0.20-0.80 cm3/g total pore volume when measured by a mercury force feed method; the condition (2): this catalyst has ≥20 m2/g specific surface area when measured by a BET method; the condition (3): this catalyst contains, as titanium-based oxide, the titanium-based oxide having an anatase type crystal structure.
