To provide a POS system for controlling a plurality of printers by one host computer by a remote operation and a method for selecting an output printer capable of selecting a printer whose print-out is desired from a printer side according to the notice of print preparation completion from the host computer.

When print data are arranged, a host computer 10 transmits an LED flash instruction to all printers. A printer 15 flashes an LED according to the LED flash instruction. When the panel switch of any printer 15 whose LED flashes is depressed, a print output request is transmitted from the printer 15 to the host computer 10. The host computer 10 transmits print data and a print instruction to the printer whose output is requested, and transmits an LED lighting-out instruction to all the printers. The printer 15 issues a receipt according to the print data and the print instruction.
