This document generating device is provided with: a document inputting part 201 for inputting an electronic document; a document recognizing part 202 for recognizing the document structure of each element in the inputted electronic document; a first document generating part 203 for generating the first structured document by using the first structured descriptive language from the inputted electronic document; a second document generating part 204 for generating the second structured document by using the second structured descriptive language from the inputted electronic document; a user interface 7 for designating the document structure to be recognized by the document recognizing part 202; and a control part 205 for controlling recognition processing by the document recognizing part 202 according to the designated document structure, and for controlling the document generation processing by the first document generating part 203 and the second document generating part 204 according to the recognition processing result.
