To provide a treating system for waste water which can treat organic waste water containing polyphenols to obtain clean treated water and which has high denitrification efficiency with a short treating time without producing a large amount of sludge.
A polyphenols treating tank 4 charged with a fluidized carrier 7 fixing polyphenols-decomposing bacteria is disposed between a denitrification tank 2 and a nitrating tank 3 so as to remove the BOD component completely in the effluent water from the denitrification tank 2. As for the polyphenols- decomposing bacteria, Penicillium geastrivorus NM10b strain is used. Since the color of the water is disappeared and the COD component does not enter the nitrating tank 3, the nitrating efficiency is increased to contribute to the increase in the denitrification efficiency.
