To provide a methane fermentation apparatus requiring no sludge condensation and returning and reduced in cost.
This methane fermentation apparatus wherein organic waste is subjected to solubilization and then to methane-fermentation to generate biogas which contains methane is provided with: a classification means 52 for separating the solubilized matter into coarse particle-containing liquid and separated liquid not containing the coarse particles; a methane fermentation tank 10 of a bacterial cell-suspended type for conducting methane fermentation by being supplied with the coarse particle-containing liquid; and a methane fermentation tank 31 of a bacterial cell-fixed type for conducting methane fermentation by being supplied with the separated liquid.
