To provide an engine speed control device for a lawn mower changing engine speed by separately considering driving of wheels and driving of a blade, thus improving fuel economy and workability, and improving operation feeling by preventing rapid start at the time of self-propelled start of the lawn mower.
When neither driving instruction of the blade nor running instruction of the lawn mower are inputted, target engine speed NED is set to be first target engine speed NED1 (idling speed) (S14). On the other hand, when the driving instruction of the blade is inputted, the target engine speed NED is immediately increased to second target engine speed NED2 (target speed during operation) set higher than the first target engine speed NED1, and when the driving instruction of the lawn mower is inputted, the target engine speed NED is gradually increased from the first target engine speed NED1 to the second target engine speed NED2 (S18 to S22).
