To provide an authentication system capable of performing an authentication correctly even under any environment by previously preparing a plurality of face information data in different environment, and to provide a computer readable storage medium to be used for the authentication system.
A face 13 of a person to be authenticated is photographed under a plurality of mutually different environments and these face information data are registered in a face authentication database 16 together with pattern names corresponding to respective environments. A authenticated person specification table 19 in which the authenticated person photographed by each registered pattern name is allowed to correspond to the pattern name is previously prepared. At the time of authentication, the face 13 of the person to be authenticated is photographed by a camera 11, the photographed face information is collated with a plurality of face information data registered in the face authentication database 16 at the rate of 1 to N and the face information of the highest similarity is specified. The corresponding authenticated person is specified from the pattern name of the specified face information by the person specification table 19. Thereby even when a current environment is different from the environment at the time of authentication, whether the person to be authenticated is the authenticated person or not can be surely authenticated.
