To prevent a fault such as damage due to occurrence of resonance phenomenon of a drive system having a motor connected to an engine via damper having a torque limiter attached thereon.
When rotation fluctuation Y of engine rotation speed Ne exceeds a threshold Yref while the engine is motored by start command (S106), a counter C1 which is not reset is counted up by value 1 and a counter C2 which is reset when rotation fluctuation Y gets the threshold Yref or less is counted up by value 1 (S112). When the counter C1 gets larger than a threshold C1ref or when the counter C2 gets larger than a threshold C2ref, engine start is stopped. Consequently, fault such as fatigue accumulated by resonance phenomenon, vibration and damage of the drive system due to occurrence of excessive resonance phenomenon can be prevented.
