Abstract:

To provide an optical recording medium wherein data is recorded and reproduced by emitting laser beams from a side opposite to a substrate and which is provided with two or more recording layers capable of reducing a noise level in a reproduced signal to improve a C/N.

This optical recording medium is provided with the substrate 11, a first recording layer 31 provided on the substrate and containing as a main component an element selected from a group composed of Si, Ge, C, Sn, Zn and Cu, and a second recording layer 32 located in the vicinity of the first recording layer and containing Al as a main component. When data is recorded on the optical recording medium, the laser beams L10 are emitted from the side opposite to the substrate. The summed thickness of the first and second recording layers is ≤40 nm.
