To provide a vehicular lighting system capable of providing a new appearance by devising the structure of the vehicular lighting system to allow display of a design part to be temporally changed.

A first light guide plate 2 and a second light guide plate 3 each formed of a transparent member and having a flat shape are stacked by disposing the guide plate 2 outside, a reflecting sheet 4 formed of a shading material and having the design part M formed with an opening hole 41 is interposed between both of them, the guide plate 2 and the design part M are displayed by light emitted from a light emitting diode 6 and from a light emitting diode 7 through the guide plate 3, respectively, and the lighting/extinguishing of both the diodes 6 and 7 is controlled by a controller 8. Thereby, the application voltages to both the diodes 6 and 7 are individually controlled to arbitrarily adjust emission illuminance of the design part M and the emission illuminance in its circumferential part, so that the visual state of the design part M can be changed with time. Thereby, a room lamp 1 capable of providing a new appearance can be realized.
