Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost and to install an off-line type measuring instrument even if it can not be installed on one side. SOLUTION: This instrument measures the thickness of the edge of a traveling film 10 and/or the thickness nearby the edge in a process wherein the film 10 is continuously manufactured. An infrared sensor 35 which measures the thickness and edge detection sensors 32 and 33 which detect the position of the edge of the film 10 are mounted on one measuring instrument 31. The measuring instrument 31 is able to move to the overall width of the film (arrow A) and measures the left end and right end of the film 10 in its traveling direction.
