To provide a means for efficiently and accurately performing the forcible regeneration of a continuously regenerative filter device using catalytic action for burning PM contained in exhaust gas from an engine while trapping it, by improving the estimating accuracy of a PM accumulation amount.
This exhaust emission control device comprises means (S1.1-S1.3) each finding a PM exhaust amount for the engine, means (S1.4-S1.6) each finding a PM combustion amount for the filter, a means (S1.7) each integrating subtraction values for subtracting the PM combustion amount from the PM exhaust amount, in sequence, to find the PM accumulation amount for the filter, a means for correcting the PM exhaust amount depending on the progress of degradation of the engine as shown in Fig, and a means for correcting the PM combustion amount depending on the progress of the deterioration of the filter as shown in Fig.
