Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal injection-forming method with which, in the formation by injecting a metallic material showing thixotropy into a forming metallic mold, a formed product having the development of break-off, shrinkage, blow hole and casting flash reduced to the utmost can be obtd. and the formed product having small thickness and large size can be obtd. with the forming metallic mold having a long fluid flowing path. SOLUTION: The metallic material is heated and melted in the inner part of an injection machine 1 and, while holding this material in a temp. range of not lower than the solidus temp. and not higher than the liquidus temp., is injected into a sprue flowing path 24 in the forming metallic mold 21 in a solid-liquid coexistentce state and is also heated in the sprue flowing path 24 so that its temp. is kept not lower than the liquidus. Further, the metallic material is cooled in a runner flowing path 29 so that its temp. is kept in the temp. range of not lower than the solidus temp. and not higher than the liquidus temp. and is passed through a gate part contracted to a sufficiently small flowing path cross sectional area to apply shearing force to break at least part of the dendrite structure generated in the matallic material. This metallic material is then made to flow into a cavity 31 again under the state of the solid-liquid coexistence.
