Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing the unevenness of image density caused by potential contrast on an intermediate transfer belt because of the direct application of separation bias without transfer-paper even in the case of using the intermediate transfer belt having a high resistance layer advantageous in terms of the prevention of transfer scattering. SOLUTION: By using the intermediate transfer belt 501 having the high resistance layer whose volume resistivity is >=1010 Ωcm, primary transfer from a photoreceptor drum 200 to the belt 501 is controlled so as not to primarily transfer the toner image on the drum 200 to a separation bias directly applying area S. When the peripheral length of the belt 501 is defined as Lbelt, and the length of transfer-paper P in the moving direction of the belt 501, a gap between the sheets of transfer paper to which the toner images are consecutively secondarily transferred and the applying distance of the separation bias per one circulation of the belt 501 are respectively defined as Lp, Lbwn and Lsep, they satisfy the expression (2×Lp+Lbwn)<(Lbelt-Lsep).
