To provide an activated carbon manufacturing apparatus with which a good quality product is obtained for a short period of time.
This activated carbon manufacturing apparatus is provided with an intra-furnace container 2 housing an activated carbon raw material 19 in a furnace chamber 1, a steam supply pipe 3 for supplying steam into the container 2, and an air duct 8 for supplying combustion air to be mixed with a dry distilled gas flowing out from the container 2 to the furnace chamber 1. The dry distilled gas produced in the container 2 flows out from the container 2 and is combusted in the furnace chamber 1 and the activated carbon raw material 19 in the container 2 is heated by the heat of combustion. The air duct 8 is formed from a porous ceramic and is red-heated by the heat of the combustion of the dry distilled gas, and the activated carbon raw material 19 in the container 2 is heated with the radiation of heat from the air duct 8.
