Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high specific capacity and does not exhibit a strong basicity. SOLUTION: This positive electrode active material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, composed of powder of lithium-containing compound oxide and having neutral lithium salt on its surface, is prepared by a preparation method comprising a process A for washing, filtering and drying the powder of a basic lithium-containing compound oxide with an acidic aqueous solution, a process B for spraying the acidic aqueous solution onto the powder of the lithium-containing compound oxide and drying the same, and a process C for spraying an acidic gas to the powder of the lithium-containing compound oxide.
