Abstract:
Structural foam formed by a thermoplastic synthetic with ≥ 10 volume% of open cells of polyhedral shape and adjoining each other, flanges (3) are arranged in a matrix (8) of polyhedral cells (2,4) and ≥ 2 walls (5,6) of each open cell (4) have openings (7), while retaining the mechanical strength of the matrix (8). The raw material of the foam is a foreign polymer (i.e. a polymer with little affinity to the polymer matrix) and/or a base polymer, a nucleating agent and a propellant, where the base polymer is a (co)polymer of a polycyclic olefin.
