To provide a method and a system for treating a biomass resource to use it effectively by each of which the zero emission of a residue can be attained by treating the biomass resource step by step and using such a cascade process that the residue produced in one treatment unit is treated in another treatment unit.
This system 1 is provided with a methane fermentation unit 2 in which a gas containing methane gas and the residue are produced by heating the biomass resource at 30-50°C and the produced gas is separated/recovered, a drying unit 3 for separating/recovering steam by heating the residue produced in the methane fermentation unit 2 at 100-200°C, a low-temperature carbonization unit 4 in which a carbide, a wood acid (containing tar) and a gas containing methane gas are produced by heating the residue from the drying unit 3 at 200-400°C and the produced wood acid (containing tar) and gas containing methane gas are separated/recovered and a high-temperature carbonization unit 5 in which the whole or majority of the carbide-containing residue produced in the carbonization unit 4 is converted into the carbide and hydrogen gas by heating the carbide-containing residue at 500-600°C and the converted carbide and hydrogen gas are separated/recovered.
