Abstract:

To solve the deflection of a die in press forming accurately and efficiently by using FEM.

In step (a), the simulation of plate forming is performed by a dynamic explicit method by assuming the die as a rigid material and modeling only the surface of the die as a shell element. In step (b), the die is assumed as an elastic material and modeled as a solid element for the purpose of the simulation of die rigidity by a static implicit method which is performed in the later (c) step, and reaction forces in the nodes of a die mesh determined when performing the simulation of the plate forming in step (a) are interpolated/extrapolated ( applied ) in the node positions of the model. In step (c), the simulation of the die rigidity is actually performed by the static implicit method.
