To provide a design method of a white organic electroluminescent element capable of efficiently designing for a luminescence of a targeted color purity.
The white organic electroluminescent element is designed to be formed by fitting a hole transport layer 3, a plurality of organic luminescent layers 4 each containing a kind of a plurality of phosphor materials emitting fluorescence of different luminescent color systems in an organic host material capable of sustaining hole and electron injections, and an electron transport layer 5 between a positive electrode 2 and a negative electrode 6. The above design is made from a step of setting a film thickness of each organic luminescent layer 4 and a ratio of the organic host material and the phosphor materials with a luminescent efficiency and a chromaticity coordinate value of a luminescent taken-out color as parameters, and a step of setting a film thickness at least either the hole transport layer 3 or the electron transport layer 5 with the chromaticity coordinate value of the luminescent taken-out color as a parameter.
