Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a damping coating material having excellent vibration energy absorbing performances and capable of forming a damping coating film scarcely causing cracking or peeling even when applied to a curved surface part and useful for automobiles, interior finishing materials, or the like, by including a porous gel of an inorganic substance in a component constituting the coating film. SOLUTION: This coating material is obtained by including (B) a porous gel of an inorganic substance in an amount of preferably 0.1-5 wt.% in (A) a component constituting a coating film. The component B is preferably composed of silica and the pore volume is preferably 1.25-1.6 mL/g. The average pore diameter is preferably 190-210 Å. The component A preferably has -20 to 80 deg.C glass transition point and comprises preferably a homopolymer of an acrylic ester or an acrylic-styrene copolymer.
