To provide an inhibitor substitution method for substituting a chromic acid based inhibitor in an absorbent used in an absorption refrigerating machine or the like with a molybdic acid based inhibitor.
The inhibitor substitution method is provided with a process ST14 for adding (ST13) barium bromide to the absorbent mainly composed of a lithium bromide aqueous solution containing chromate to be used as an inhibitor, causing a reaction between the barium bromide and the chromate, and forming a first insoluble substance, and a process ST17 for adding (ST16) a substitution inhibitor which is an inhibitor containing molybdate to the absorbent formed with the first insoluble substance, causing a reaction between the substitution inhibitor and the barium bromide, and forming a second insoluble substance. An amount of the barium bromide added to the absorbent is at least the same as a formed amount of the second insoluble substance when the substitution inhibitor is added to the absorbent.
