To make it possible for a fluid to pass through only a screen and even through a screen having fine meshes, without having to excessively improve a working precision nor producing gaps.

A strainer of the invention comprises: a body 30 equipped with a passage having an inlet 31 and an outlet 32; a cup-like screen 60 disposed within the passage of the body 30 and having an opening 61 and a bottom 62; an inlet/outlet hole 34 disposed on a side face of the body 30 for fitting and removing the screen 60; a detachable lid 35 for blocking the inlet/outlet hole 34. On an inner circumferential surface forming a flow passage on the inlet 31 side of the body 30, there is formed an edge-supporting section 50 allowing the insertion of an open edge 61a of the screen 60 and having a step portion 51 allowing the contact with an open end face 61b of the screen 60. Further, there is provided a pressing means P for pressing the screen 60 in order for the opening end face 61b of the screen 60 to get tight contact with the step portion 51 of the edge-supporting section 50.
