Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as a raw material for a silicone rubber, a surface treating agent, etc., industrially advantageously by reacting a specific cyclotrisiloxane with a disiloxane in the presence of an acid catalyst in a non-equilibrium manner for suppressing side reactions. SOLUTION: This α,ω-dihydrogenorganopentasiloxane expressed by formula III, widely used as a raw material for a silicone rubber, modified silicone rubber, surface treating agent, etc., and having >=3 times content of the α,ω- dihydrogenorganopentasiloxane as compared with that of α,ω- dihydrogenorganooctasiloxane as a byproduct and expressed by formula IV, is obtained in a high selectivity and a high yield by reacting a cyclotrisiloxane expressed by formula I (R is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group or H, provided that not all the R are simultaneously H) with a disiloxane expressed by formula II in the presence of an acid catalyst.
