Abstract:

To provide a water photoreducing body by which hydrogen can be produced in the efficiency higher than usual and which can be manufactured easily and to provide a method for manufacturing the water photoreducing body.

Since many externally communicative passages 3 are formed on the surface of a substrate 2 of this water photoreducing body 1 by bubbling a supercritical fluid or a subcritical fluid, the surface area of the substrate becomes remarkably larger when including the surface area of the inside surfaces of externally communicative passages 3 and a light-excitable organic semiconductor 4 contained in the substrate is irradiated with light from the outside and activated in high efficiency. Since a water reducing catalyst 5 is stuck to the inside surfaces of externally communicative passages 3 and arranged closely to the light-excitable organic semiconductor 4 to be irradiated with light, an electron is moved easily from the light-excitable organic semiconductor 4 to the water reducing catalyst 5 so that hydrogen can be produced in remarkably high efficiency.
