Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method that can suppress overshoot so as to conduct gradation conversion for adjustment of a dynamic range with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus applies smoothing processing to an original image to generate a low frequency component, subtracts the low frequency component image from the original image to generate a high frequency component, applies gradation conversion to the low frequency component, corrects the high frequency component on the basis of the revised low frequency component by the gradation conversion and the magnitude of the high frequency component and adds the low frequency component subjected to the gradation conversion to the corrected high frequency component.
