To provide an imaging apparatus which can photographs a moving video by a simple operation only of the part which a user desires in a still pictures together with the photographing of still pictures.

A moving video area is set for a part which the user wants to carry out photographing by a predetermined operation on the monitor screen of a display unit 17 which displays at the time of photographing. If photographing starts by depressing of a shutter key, first, after a still picture is photographed by making all the screens of the display unit 17 as targets, the photographing of a moving video is made for a part corresponding to the moving video area. Moving video data obtained at this time are stored in a memory 38 relating to the still picture data. When the still picture data which are stored in the memory 38 are displayed in the display unit 17 at the time of regeneration, the moving video data relating to the still picture data are read out, reproduced, and displayed at predetermined timing.
