Abstract:

To provide a high-capacity and high-efficiency scandium adsorbent which surpasses a conventional adsorbent with a processing speed and a low throughput.

The adsorbent is used for collecting and recovering scandium from a solution and is prepared by forming reaction active sites on a polymer substrate and introducing metal ion catching groups into the polymer substrate by forming graft chains on the substrate by grafting by homo- or co-polymerization with a reactive monomer. The substrate is produced from a woven cloth, a nonwoven cloth, a film, a hollow fiber, or a yarn made from a fiber made of a polyolefin such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The reactive monomer is a vinyl monomer having a phosphate group.
