To provide an image reading device for preventing the occurrence of the boundary of density or image shift appearing in the joint sections of respective sensors in an output image.

The image reading device for reading an image from an original by an image sensor is provided with a plurality of image sensors arranged so as to be overlapped in a staggered state, a joint density correcting means for performing the density correction of image data equivalent to the joint sections between the adjacent image sensors in image data read by the image sensor and a dot detecting means for judging whether or not the image of the original is at least a dot image or non-dot image. The joint density correcting means is operated based on the judgment result of the dot detecting means.
