To provide catalyst paste for a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell with excellent bonding property.
This catalyst paste for a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell contains (1) catalyst particles, (2) a monomer having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group in one molecule and at least one ion-conductive group or a precursor group capable of giving an ion-conductive group using a chemical reaction and (3) a solvent. If the catalyst paste for the solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell of this invention is used, bonding property of an electrolyte film and an electrode substrate, especially bonding property of a hydrocarbon electrolyte film wherein methanol permeability is smaller than a perfluorosulfonic acid film such as nafion can be improved. 1 is an air electrode which comprises a porous electrode base material 2 and a catalyst layer 3, and 4 is a fuel electrode which comprises a porous electrode base material 5 and a catalyst layer 6. A proton conductivity polymer electrolyte film is indicated by 7.
