To enable an unregistered word which is not entirely registered in a dictionary to be registered automatically.

A device for automatically registering an unregistered word 30 which automatically extracts a word not registered in a Japanese dictionary 36 based on a rewriting pattern between a Japanese sentence and an English sentence, and an example sentence 34 for parallel translation comprises: an example sentence/rewriting pattern collation part 54 which collates a rewriting pattern stored in a rewriting pattern storage part 52 with the example sentence 34 for parallel translation, extracts a translation from the example sentence for parallel translation which matches the rewriting pattern, and specifies the character strings composing a variable part in the Japanese sentence; a registered word dictionary retrieval part 62 which retrieves the character strings specified by the example sentence/rewriting pattern collation part 54 in the dictionary 36, and determines whether the character strings are registered or not; and an unregistered word registration information generating part 58 which, with respect to the character strings not registered in the dictionary, specifies English character strings corresponding to the Japanese character strings as the information to be registered in the dictionary together with the Japanese character strings based on the translation including the character strings and the rewriting pattern which the translation matches.
