To provide an apparatus that carbonizes waste within a short time without burning it and detoxifies noxious gases produced.

There is provided a carbonization apparatus 1 comprising: a carbonizate formation machine 2 wherein heating parts 5 composed of rod-like heating elements 5a, 5b, and 5c extending toward the center and feed pipes 6 that can eject a minus ion gas 6b suppressing combustion under the heating elements are spacedly disposed on the side surface of a polyhedral frame body 2a into which waste can be fed, and the heating parts 5 are alternatingly arranged in plural so that the respective heating parts covers the gaps, and the whole waste is heated to a specified temperature by means of the heating elements to carbonize the heated waste by the heat of the waste itself; a high-temperature decomposition chamber 3 wherein the waste gas produced in the carbonizate formation machine is decomposed by passing it through a passage 3c kept at a high temperature by an electrical heater 3b over a long period of time; and an adsorption chamber 4 wherein the waste gas decomposed in the high-temperature decomposition chamber 3 is sucked by a blower 4g and is allowed to pass a plurality of adsorption cylinders 4a, 4b, and 4c and to be cooled by an adsorbent 4f and be toxified by the adsorption of noxious substances on the adsorbent when the waste gas leaves the cylinders.
