Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polyethylene pipe which can effectively continuously stretch a thick item and prevent a resin from being crosslinked in an extruder even when high speed forming is conducted. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a polyethylene pipe comprises a raw material resin supply process of supplying a mixture obtained by kneading a raw material containing a polyethylene resin and a peroxide from an extruder into a die having a heat-crosslinking zone, a stretching zone and a cooling zone, a crosslinking process of heat-crosslinking the raw material resin in the heat-crosslinking zone to shape it into a pipe of the crosslinked resin, a stretching process of stretching it in the stretching zone to give a shape approximately similar to the formed item and a cooling process of cooling the shaped item to a temperature lower than an orientation relaxation temperature in the cooling zone, wherein an employed peroxide has one minute half life temperature of not lower than 190 deg.C.
