Abstract:
To provide a positive electrode using a binder effectively preventing coming off of an active material and having high battery characteristics and an alkaline storage battery using this positive electrode.
The positive electrode contains a conductive core material 11 and a mixture 12 filled in the core material 11. The mixture 12 contains the active material and the binder, and the binder contains a vinyl alcohol base polymer. The vinyl alcohol base polymer is at least one polymer selected from the group comprising a vinyl alcohol polymer, a partial saponification product of vinyl acetate polymer, a partial saponification product of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, and a ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer.
