Abstract:

To provide a photocatalyst body which can transmit light into its inside (its center) and has the characteristics of fine photocatalyst particles, i.e. a large surface area, a high organic material adsorptivity, and optical activity; and its production method and using method.

The photocatalyst body is a complex composed of 0.01-10 wt% photocatalyst particles having an average particle size of 1-50 nm and a silica gel having an average pore size of 2-15 nm and an average particle size of 1-30 μm. The photocatalyst body is a titania-mixed silica hydrogel complex which is formed by mixing a silica sol having a silica concentration of 2-45% with a titania powder having a particle size of 1-50 nm in an amount of 0.01-10 wt% based on the silica solid content of the silica sol and gelling the resultant titania-mixed silica hydrosol. The production method and using method of the photocatalyst body are also provided.
