To provide technologies for making compatible the processing efficiency and availability, in a distributed processing system having on-board terminals as computation nodes.
A distributed processing system with on-board terminals as computation nodes comprises a switching means for switching a form (infrastructure cooperation grid) of using a base station as a management node if the base station is available, and a form (vehicle group grid) of functioning any one of on-board terminals as a management node if the base station is not available. The switching shifts to the infrastructure cooperation grid, if a vehicle group can communicate with the base station, and shifts to the vehicle group grid, when it is predicted that the vehicle group becomes communication disabled with the base station. It is preferable that the inference be made, based on the reception field strength of the radio waves from the base station, location information of the vehicle group, a communicatable area of a road-side machine and the like.
