To provide a method for producing metal honeycomb, which has following advantages: firstly, mold release agent does not dry during its application work, but hardens and dries in a short period of time by ultraviolet radiation; secondly, there is neither harmful volatilization nor evaporation; thirdly, the thin thickness coating of the mold release agent is possible and the occurrence of skipping is avoided; fourthly, pressurization can be performed at low load in the diffusion bonding; fifthly, the evaporation of binder for the mold release agent, etc. is performed at slow speed, thereby the discontinuation of diffusion bonding treatment is avoided; and sixthly, the formation of carbide, oxide or the like is also avoided.
In this method, stainless steel and the like are used as base materials 2, diffusion-bonded by use of the mold release agent 1, and then, stretched and expanded. The mold release agent 1 contains a mold releasing powder consisting of ceramic powders, a binder consisting of prepolymers of two kinds of ultraviolet curing resins having different evaporation temperatures at thermal decomposition, and a diluent consisting of ester monomers of ultraviolet curing resins.
