To provide an image forming apparatus which can carry out a more correct inspection of printing results, and to provide a printing result inspecting apparatus and a printing result inspection method.
A printer 10 has a printing part 12 which prints an image to a paper sheet based on original image data, and an inspecting means which inspects the printing result by the printing part 12. The inspecting means has an unprinted reading part 40 which acquires image data prior to printing by reading a paper face of the unprinted paper by the printing part 12, and a printed reading part 42 which acquires printed image data by reading the paper face of the printed paper by the printing part 12. A control part for inspection acquires inspection image data which is the image printed to the paper by the printing part 12, based on the unprinted image data and the printed image data. Moreover, the control part for inspection judges based on the inspection image data whether or not the printing result by the printing part 12 is good.
