To provide an eyepiece lens that facilitates making the whole optical system compact, while realizing an apparent large viewing field and a long eye relief, with superior aberration compensation.

This eyepiece lens (L1) has a 1st lens group (G1) of negative refracting power, arranged at the object side of the intermediate image (I') formed by an objective lens (L0), and a 2nd lens group (G2) of positive refraction power arranged at observing eye side of the intermediate image (I'). Further, a corrector plate (LC), which has at least a non-spherical surface and the other surface of a zero curvature at the vertex, is disposed closest to the object in the 2nd lens group (G2).
