Abstract:

An assembly spins a fiber from a layer of staple fiber and has a drafting station (3) surrendering fibers to an air-jet station (4). The assembly further has a traversing station (25) connected to the compressors (19, 20) serving the drafting station and air jet. The compressor and air jet are located on a common support (26). The air jet is co-located with a thread cleaner (24). The traversing assembly moves along a rod (31) past a series of spinning stations. Each spinning station has its own bobbin changing unit which shares the same drive system with the drafting feed rollers (7, 8).
