To provide an information processing apparatus capable of notifying at which timing into which type of data communication data is to be changed when changing the communication data during connection to an opponent's information processing apparatus.
A GUI section 31 inputs a switching direction of an input source from a user. A communication management section 32 causes an input control section 33 to switch the input source and input the data according to the switching direction of the input source input by the GUI section 31, and causes an encode section 35 to encode the data. Identification information for identifying a type of the input data or combination of types of the input data is transmitted to a signalling section 38 via a communication section 40. Thus, it is possible to notify at which timing into what type of data the data is to be changed when changing the data during connection to the opponent's information processing apparatus.
