Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable manufacturing time to be shortened with a relatively inexpensive cost of equipment and mass production at a low cost in the manufacturing process of welding a polar plate assembly and a collecting plate with an electron beam. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method and apparatus for the battery, positive and negative pole plates are laminated through a separator to form a pole plate assembly, whose side edge is welded with a collecting plate with electron beam welding. After dried pole plates in a pole-plate drying process 1, pole plate assembly is constituted in a jig assembly process 2, the pole plate assembly is supplied through a plurality of auxiliary chambers 3, 9 to 11 in which vacuum gets higher in succession into a fabrication chamber 13 in which vacuum is high and an electron beam illuminating means have been installed to weld with the electron beam illumination, and the pole plate flock after being welded with the collecting plate is taken out through a rear chamber 14.
