Abstract:

To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of suitably controlling output characteristics of the internal combustion engine irrespective of aging of an actuator adjusting flow rate of gas in the internal combustion engine.

An actual VCT is estimated based on change of a target value of operation quantity of a variable valve timing device (VCT target value) (step S12). It is judged based on difference between the actual VCT and the estimation value whether dynamic characteristics of the variable device changes or not (step S16). When it is judged that the same changes, change of VCT dynamic characteristics is reflected to a model (step S20). Then, VCT target value map is re-adapted by simulating a condition of a gasoline engine when VCT target value is variously changed based on the model having the change reflected thereon.
