To provide a biological state detector capable of reducing the influence of the color of the skin irradiated with light, performing suitable measurement even when a body is moved and performing the suitable measurement even when a gap is generated at the mounting part of the detector and external light is made incident.
In a step 100, body movement signals are detected by using an infrared light LED 19. In a step 110, the presence/absence of body movements is determined on the basis of the body movement signals and advance to a step 120 is performed only when determining the absence body movement. A step 120 has no body movement and a rest state, so that light to be used for pulse wave detection is decided in the state. That is, since the light suitable for use in the pulse wave detection is different depending on the color of the skin, visible light or infrared light is selected to detect the pulse waves. In a step 130, well-known pulse wave detection is performed using the light decided as detection light.
