To provide a surface acoustic wave device whose size of the occupation area of the external shape can be reduced almost to the size of its internal surface acoustic surface element, and which can be surface mounted on a board with high reliability, and in which an impedance adjustment function or/and a further multifunctional electrical circuit can be combined.

This surface acoustic wave device comprises: a piezoelectric substrate 1; an exciting electrode 2 arranged on the piezoelectric substrate; a wiring electrode 3 which is disposed on the piezoelectric substrate and connected to the exciting electrode 2; a cover body 4 which creates the exciting space 9 of the exciting electrode 2 and whose periphery is disposed as to lie in a region directly over the piezoelectric substrate 1; an insulating protector 6 made of resin for covering the cover body 4; external electrodes 7 arranged on the insulating protector; and an inductance component which is disposed in the insulating protector and connected to the wiring electrode 3.
