Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for electrochemically cleaning contaminated soil by which heavy metals as the contamination source are removed without need for special equipment, control, etc., and the pore water moved to the cathode side need not be purified. SOLUTION: A pair of electrodes consisting of an anode 1 and a cathode 2 are provided in the contaminated soil 5 contg. heavy metals, a solid acid 3 is furnished close to the cathode 2, a DC current is applied to the anode 1 and cathode 2, hence the heavy metals are moved toward the cathode 2 and passed through the inside of the acid 3, and the heavy metals are retained in the acid 3.
