To provide an illumination system provided with an automatic checking system of an illumination apparatus as an emergency light or a guide light, lighting a lamp for long time in so far as it is possible at abnormality of a power source.
A plurality of lighting fixtures are connected to a control means 10 through a communication means 12. The control means 10 switches each lighting fixture 11 from a normal mode to an inspection mode in accordance with a schedule, and turns on the lamp with a battery for a specified time. If an abnormality occurs in communication through the communication means 12 in the inspection mode, there is a possibility of an abnormality occurring in the power source A, so, the inspection is disrupted to return to the normal mode. As long as the power source A is normal, the battery 24 is charged, so that the lamp can be kept on as long a time as possible at abnormalities of the power source A.
