To correct an image so as to obtain an image of appropriate exposure even when there is a part which has not reached a saturation level in the image generated by image pickup.

The camera includes: a photometry part for measuring light of a field; an imaging part for imaging an image of the field to generate an image; an operation part for calculating a target image output value in a specified area of the field on the basis of a value limiting a photometry value by the photometry part by a fixed upper limit value to calculate a correction value to be used when correcting the image on the basis of the ratio of the target image output value and an image output value of a part corresponding to the specified area out of images generated by the image pickup part; and a correction part for correcting images on the basis of the correction value operated by the operation part.
