To provide a measuring device for flow having high tracking capability, even under conditions where the flow speed and/or flow rate fluctuate severely.
The ultrasonic wave signal transmitted from the first oscillator 2 and received by the second oscillator 3 is detected by the detection means 8 with the number of zero-cross points of the reception waves, with the number previously determined is detected. The clocking means 9 measures the elapsed time from the start of transmission of the first oscillator 2 to each zero-cross point, and the time operation means 11 obtains the propagating time by obtaining the mean time; thus the measurement resolution of the clocking means can be enhanced by the number of detections of the zero-cross points; and since the intermittent measurements are allowed, the flexibility of the measurement is enhanced, and the measurements that are high in trackability with respect to the fluctuations of the flow can be attained.
